School uniform

Our school uniform ensures that you are smartly dressed while at school and identified as a member of St. Aidan’s. Please keep your uniform neat at all times. This means your top button fastened and shirt tucked in. Your hair too should be kept tidy and smart and no extreme styles are allowed. All items of uniform and kit should be clearly marked with your name. You must wear full, correct school uniform each day. The school governors and staff insist on this and when your parents accept a place for you at St. Aidan’s they agree that you will abide by the uniform regulations. There are occasional ‘non-uniform’ days when you can wear sensible non-uniform clothes if you make a donation to charity.

Student absence

In the interest of our students’ safety it is important that we know that pupils are in school and which students are absent. If your child is absent from school for any reason, it is important that you contact us as early as possible on the first day of absence.

You can email the Attendance Officer direct on attendanceofficer@staidans.co.uk or telephone 01423 885814 and press option 1 to explain the reason for your child’s absence. If your child is absent for more than one day you do not need to contact us every day, but do let us know if the information or situation changes.

Going forward we remind parents that only emergency medical appointments should be made during the school day, routine dental examinations and orthodontist adjustments should be scheduled for either before or after school or during school holidays. Please make your dental practitioner aware for your next appointment.

For Sixth Form absences please contact the Sixth Form Attendance Officer by email – attendanceofficer6thform@staidans.co.uk

The Parent Portal and Parent App

At St. Aidan’s we are proud to be a centre of excellence where all our students flourish because of the quality care, nurture, and education they are given. We firmly believe that a strong relationship between home and school is essential for this to continue and to support our values of Wisdom, Aspiration, Learning Well Together and Kindness.

We are delighted to announce that we will be using our Parent Portal and the Parent App in conjunction with our MIS provider Arbor.

The Parent Portal and Parent App will enable you to see information relating to many aspects of your child’s education and the information we hold for them at St. Aidan’s.

These include –

· Attendance

· Timetable

· Behaviour information

· Personal information

· Medical information

· Consents

· Assessment information (will be available in late December 2024)

The Parent Portal and Parent App will be launched in a staged roll out as detailed below-

Year 7 – W/C – 25/11/2024

Year 8 – W/C – 09/12/2024

Year 9 – W/C – 02/12/2024

Year 10 – W/C – 09/12/2024

Year 11 – W/C – 02/12/2024

Please note the Associated Sixth Form students’ information will not be available on the platforms until September 2025

How to Access the Parent Portal and Parent App

There are parents/carers within our school community who will be new to using Arbor. There will also be parents/carers who currently use it or who have previously used it and who may have already spotted St. Aidan’s appearing within the Portal and App.

All users, new and existing, will need to finish setting up the St Aidan’s account within the Portal to be able to access the system for this school.

During the course of the relevant roll out week detailed above you will receive an email from St Aidan’s, sent from arbor.noreply@staidans.co.uk with instructions on how to do this.

For existing users please note that when you navigate through the process you may receive automated emails from your other school(s) along with St. Aidan’s at the point that you request to change your password. Please ensure that you pick the email that relates to St Aidan’s only. A letter detailing our launch and roll out plans is located here – Arbor Parent Letter November 2024.
