On Tuesday 11 October our Sixth Form Senate team organised a wonderful Bake Sale in memory of their friend Frank Ashton who died aged 14 of a rare type of Bone Cancer called Ewing Sarcoma. Frank was in Year 9 here at St. Aidan’s when he lost his fight against cancer and Tuesday would have been his eighteenth birthday. Staff and students including friends from his form group joined together to bake and students from all year groups flocked to buy the cakes in three different locations around school raising money for the Bone Cancer Research Trust.
The proceeds raised almost reached £1000 and this money will go towards funding for more research into this specific type of cancer. To find out more about Frank’s Fund a charity his family have set up in his name, you can follow @franks_fund on Instagram or Facebook.
