I am delighted to welcome you to St. Aidan’s Church of England High School confident that whatever the abilities, talents and needs of your child, we will be able to support, encourage and challenge them to reach their potential.
The school, within the Diocese of Leeds and set in the beautiful town of Harrogate in North Yorkshire, was established over fifty years ago through the amalgamation of Christ Church Secondary School for Boys and St. Peter’s Secondary School for Girls, with just 650 pupils on roll but since that time it has developed in prestige and size and now caters for nearly 2000 students.
The success of St. Aidan’s is based on the excellent relationships that are evident between the school, the students, and their parents or carers enabling it to provide the very best in educational opportunities to meet the needs of the students as they move either into Higher Education or employment, as well as contributing to the qualities that allow them to make significant contributions to society upon leaving school.

St Aidan’s has a number of key values which are depicted in our message:
About Us
The values within the school are grounded in the Christian faith based on love, compassion and respect for each other as well as the world we live in. The school is now ranked amongst the highest achieving comprehensive schools in the country. In August 2011 the Department for Education granted the school Academy status.
The school is heavily over-subscribed each year and provides for students of all abilities. It is justly proud of its academic achievements, in the GCSE examinations and A Level examinations of 2023. St. Aidan’s is also proud of the 40 plus students who have a Statement of Educational Needs and who thrive within the school.
The extra-curricular provision within St. Aidan’s complements the academic standards with Music ensembles (many of which are known nationally and internationally), Drama, Dance and Sport all playing major parts in the life of the school. A significant number of other clubs and societies take place at lunchtime or after school, and all students are encouraged to participate in these activities to ensure that a full and rounded education is provided. The list of achievements in all spheres of school life is endless and provokes much pride within all who work in the school.
